Students anticipate commencement of Spring Semester

As 2013 commences and Winter Break comes to an end, a new semester begins. For students, this means new classes, new teachers, and a new beginning for grades and attendance. Students have mixed feelings about starting the semester.

Junior Audrey Jones remains mostly unaffected by the change.

“Not a lot of my classes change, so I just see it as a semester closer to graduation,” Jones said.

Junior Tia Grover is also looking forward to getting another semester out of the way.

“I’m ready to be a senior already,” Grover said. “I feel pretty good about starting the semester. Last semester my grades were really good so I’m hoping I do just as well this next semester.”

Although junior Andria Buchholz is also ready to be a senior, she is not ready for the spring semester.

“‘I’m kind of dreading it because I don’t want to get back into the school routine after the break,” Buchholz said. “However, I’m excited because I haven’t been able to see several friends over break and I’m just ready to get junior year over with.”

Freshman Tanner Moore also dreads the end of break.

“I feel horrible about school starting,” Moore said. “I don’t like the whole effort thing that comes with school.”

Junior Aaron Jacobs sees the new semester as an opportunity to start fresh.

“I feel like its time to start new and hopefully get better grades than first semester,” Jacobs said.

Some students feel anxious about starting over.

“I’m scared because of new classes and going back to old ones I don’t like,” sophomore Abby Shubert said.

Junior Dacota Starbuck shares in Shubert’s anxiety toward new classes.

“I’m really nervous because I feel like I’m starting all over again being a new student and everything,” Starbuck said. “I honestly just want to get this year over with.”

Junior Lexsie Ditter is looking forward to her last semester with her friends who are seniors.

“I actually don’t mind coming back to school,” Ditter said. “It’s easier compared to my last semester and I’m excited to make the best of my last semester with the seniors.”
