Girls swimming starts season at Salina Central meet

On March 21, the Hays High School girls swim team competed at Salina Central for a swim meet. Overall, the team took fourth place with 302 total points.

Here are the individual scores for the team members and the team relay scores:

50-meter Freestyle: first place – Izabel Schmidt, fourth place – Jaylen Hughes, seventh place – Breckyn Wahlmeier

100-meter Backstroke: ninth place – Katelyn Stieben, 10th place – Anne Wintch, 12th place – Loren Tervort

100-meter Freestyle: ninth place – Kiera Dealy, 12th place – Katelyn Stieben

200-meter Freestyle Relay: seventh place – Kiera Dealy, Katelyn Stieben, Addybelle Birdsall and Breckyn Wahlmeier; 10th place – Sylvia Keller, Janessa Miller, Jordyn Flavin and Jayleigh Weilert

200-meter Medley Relay: second place – Lucy Tippy, Izabel Schmidt, Jaylen Hughes and Breckyn Wahlmeier

200-meter Freestyle: fifth place – Lucy Tippy, 10th place – Kiera Dealy, 11th place – Jayleigh Weilert

400-meter Freestyle Relay: second place – Lucy Tippy, Kiera Dealy, Haylen Hughes and Izabel Schmidt

“The girls season is going swimmingly!” coach Kendra Clary said. “The girls have had a ton of improvements already. They are a very hardworking, determined group.”
