Indian baseball defeated in season openers

The Indian baseball team got off to a disappointing start at it dropped a pair of games at the Valley Center Tri on March 31.

In the first game against Valley Center, Hays took a 2-0 lead at the top of the fourth, but Valley Center scored a pair of runs in their half of inning and followed that up with four runs in the fifth and another in sixth to take a 7-2 lead. Hays scored another run in the top of the seventh to make the final, 7-3.

Junior Connor Rule led the way for the Indians with a 3-for-3 performance, scoring one run and driving in another.

The Indians then faced Derby in the second game and lost by a 12-2 count. Derby only had six hits in the game but took advantage of seven errors by the Indians to secure the victory.
