Hays softball improves to 3-2 after Dodge City sweep

After a slow start to the season, the Hays High School lady Indian softball team took on the Dodge City Demons on April 2 and April 4.

The lady Indians hosted the Demons for their first meeting, eager to earn their first victory of the season. After a close game, Hays High took control and defeated Dodge City, 4-2, putting the lady Indians at 1-2 for the season.

Hays traveled to Dodge City for their double-header rematch two days later. The lady Indians continued their dominance for the second game in a row, slaughtering the Demons, 10-4. Nothing could stop the lady Indians; Hays finished off the Demons in the second game of the day, 13-3.

“The biggest adjustment [we] made was us working as a team, rather than focusing on ourselves,” senior Aubree Thomas said. “We learned that sometimes you have to do a specific job instead of trying to make ourselves look better.”

Hays improved their record to 3-2, and they play at Wichita Northwest High School on April 12.
