Girls golf takes fifth place at Dodge City Invitational; Sept. 8

The girls golf team took fifth out of 13 teams at the Dodge City Invitational on Sept. 8, placing with a score of 393.

Kapaun Mt. Carmel took first place with a score of 359. Following scores were Maize in second with 387, Garden City in third with 388 and Hutchinson in fourth with 392. Other team scores were Liberal 394, Dodge City 406, Goddard Eisenhower 416, Great Bend 431, Goddard 432, Cimarron 495, Salina South 505 and Wichita North 607.

Individually, senior Katie Brungardt took second place and medaled with a score of 82. Sophomore Emily McGuire tied for 18th place with 97 points. Other individual scores were senior Talyn Kleweno who scored 103 and earned 28th place and sophomore Emily George who scored 111 and placed 37th.

“It always feels great to medal in an event,” Brungardt said. “I’ve been playing golf all throughout my high school career and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the season has in store.”

The girls’ next action is at Garden City on Sept. 12.
