Students express views on lockers

Walking down the hallways of Hays High, one can see the many differently colored lockers alternating between orange, yellow, grey, and red. What lies in those lockers are sometimes a mystery to all.

Lockers often times are used to store many things including text books, jackets, binders and miscellaneous objects. While some students can find it to be quite helpful when it comes to storing things, lockers can also be quite troublesome.

Many students of Hays High seem to be content with skipping the whole stopping at their locker after every class and going straight to carrying all their books in their book bag even if it ends up weighing almost a ton.

“I take my books home and bring them on the days that I need them,” sophomore Raeleann Weigel said. “It’s easier for me to carry them around than stop at my locker in between classes.”

While a majority of students don’t use lockers, several still do.

“I use my locker to store my heavy textbooks that I don’t want to carry around in my bag,” sophomore Aaron Galarza said. “I’d get the books before class and put them back after class.”

One can often hear the complaints of some Hays High students about how they have to carry multiple textbooks, binders, a laptop, notebooks, and more from class to class each and every day.

“During one of my classes, everybody was talking about how no one uses the lockers anymore because they’re not cool,” Galarza said. “But I don’t really care. I still use my locker.”
