In the mornings of Wednesday, Feb. 28 and Thursday, Feb. 29, the Leadership Team at Hays High School hosted the eighth graders from Hays Middle School.

During the visits, the eighth graders got the opportunity to tour the school, explore clubs and sports and, overall, get the feel for high school.

First, around 8:30 a.m., the Leadership Team members, counselors and principals welcomed the eighth graders to Hays High. Then, the eighth graders were split into two groups. In one group, they took tours around the school with a Leadership Team member, while the other half of the group stayed in the gym and explored clubs and sports. After each event, the groups switched. To end the day, the groups came back together to each lunch during PRIDE time.

“It was a really good experience for the eighth graders,” junior Isabelle Jones said. “I think they all learned a lot, but they were shy. As leaders, we tried to encourage them to talk and find things that they’d be interested in doing in high school.”
