Girls golf takes first at regionals

Senior Gracie Wente hit her tee shot at the TMP Invitational Tournament at Smoky Hill Country Club.

On Monday, Oct. 11, Hays High hosted the 5A regional girls golf tournament at Smoky Hill Country Club. They played 18 holes, and par was 72.

Senior Taleia McCrae placed first with a score of 81, sophomore Evyn Cox took third with an 82, junior Katie Dinkel shot an 84 for fourth and junior Claire Humphrey shot a 90 for seventh.

As a team, the girls scored a 337 and earned the 5A regional champion title.

State golf will be hosted by Hutchinson on Oct. 18 and 19 where the team will play 36 holes within two days.
