Seniors generally look forward to their last year of playing certain sports. Senior Maddie Keller has played volleyball since middle school, but did not participate in it her senior year, and she did not participate in any other fall sports.

“These past two summers I haven’t been able to do anything that was related to volleyball because of my injuries,” Keller said. “I would have been very behind and out of practice.”

Keller considered doing golf or tennis instead of volleyball, but decided against both.

“If I did golf I feel like I would just have embarrassed myself,” Keller said. “If I did tennis, I could have risked getting reinjured before my final seasons of basketball and soccer.”

Ever since Keller was a little girl, she has always participated in some type of sport.

“I have been playing soccer since I was four, and volleyball and basketball since the 8th grade,” Keller said.

Keller wishes she could have played volleyball this year, because she really enjoyed the sport.

Not doing a fall sport has helped Keller focus on her two other sports and has given her more time to get in shape for basketball.

“Since I didn’t do a fall sport I have way more free time,” Keller said. “I also get to watch other sports play, don’t miss as much school, there is less stress and drama in my life, and I get to take plenty of after school naps.”
