The boys soccer team claimed its first home win of the season, a close 2-1 victory over Junction City.
Junction scored first as the team took a 1-0 lead.
Hays then struck back getting two goals within less than a minute.
Junior Ethan Fort had the first goal on an assist from senior Tanner Staab, and sophomore Jordan Windholz scored the second with the assist again coming from Staab.
“We needed to get the win today,” Fort said. “We had shot after shot in the first half and I just thought that we would get a couple of them to go in.”
The next action for the boys is Thursday, Sept. 29, against Liberal with a 1 p.m. kick off.
