Boys swimming places second at Great Bend

The Indian swimmers finished in second place at Great Bend.

Sophomore Blake Mathews placed fourth in the 200 Free.  His time was 2:11.48.  Mathews also placed third in the 500 Free with a time of 6:03.

Swimming in the 100 Back and 500 Free was sophomore Connor Hess.  In the 100, Hess placed fourth with a time of 1:11.15.  He then finished in fifth in the 500.  His time was 6:13.56.

In the 50 Free sophomore Derek Drees placed second.  He then swam in the 100 Free and placed third.  His times were 24.85 and 56.77.

Junior Nathan Adams competed in the 200 IM and 100 Breast.  In both races, Adams finished second.  In the 200 his time was 2:22.72 and in the 100 it was 1:12.61.

Competing in the 100 Free was junior Trever Rohn. Rohn finished in fourth with a time of 57.15.

Junior Jake Nelson swam in the 100 Breast and placed fourth. His time was 1:22.19.

Three relay teams placed at the swim meet.

Adams, Rohn, Hess and Drees competed together in the 200 Medley Relay and finished in fourth. Their time was 2:04.44.

In to 200 Free Relay was junior Torrey Contrerez, sophomore Joshua Brungardt, Rohn and Drees.  The boys placed third with a time of 1:45.45.

“At Great Bend I did bad because my fly was bad,” Contrerez said. “Otherwise the team is doing well.  I hope we get better because 200 Relay A-team is only four seconds off from going to state.”

The last relay team to place was in the 400 Free Relay.  Adams, Hess, Mathews and Brungardt swam for a time of 4:08.30 and placed third.

The boys will next compete Feb. 2 at Salina South.
