Guidon team launches Humans of Hays High blog

The Guidon team has launched a new blog called Humans of Hays High. The blog is a play on the popular blog Humans of New York, created by Brandon Stanton.

Humans of Hays High features many different individuals in the school.

Co-Editor in Chief for the Guidon, senior Fengxue (Sylina) Zhang came up with the idea in a collaboration with junior Jacob Alexander.

“I first came across Humans of New York sometime last year,” Zhang said. “I fell in love with the idea of photographing and documenting the lives of the very ordinary, yet extraordinary people.”

Zhang said she feels this project will impact many people in and around the school.

“We wanted to push forward the individuals who are sometimes hidden by the cliché ranking of popularity and drama of high school,” Zhang said. “Beneath everything, we are all just people.”

Zhang added she is excited about the launching of the blog.

“I hope the reporters from the Guidon and USD489 continue on with this for years to come,” Zhang said. “We will never run out of colorful individuals to report on.”

The current journalists and photographers for the Humans of Hays High blog are junior Jacob Alexander, senior Fengxue (Sylina) Zhang, junior Madison Crees and junior Anniston Weber.
