Volleyball finishes 2-2 at Sept. 24 tournament
The lady Indian volleyball team faced off against the Circle Thunderbirds, Rock Creek Mustangs, Thomas More Prep-Marian Monarchs (TMP) and the Wamego Red Raiders on Sept. 24.
Against Circle, Hays fell short in the first set, 16-25. After an attempted comeback in a hard-fought second set, Hays could not get the job done, as they got swept in the series after losing the second set, 20-25.
When the lady Indians played against the Rock Creek Mustangs, the first set was very close, with the Mustangs coming out in a victory of 26-24. After some back and forth, the Mustangs swept the lady Indians after winning the second set, 25-17.
In their next game against in-town rival TMP, Hays got back on the victory board in the first set after winning it, 25-17. In the second set, however, the Monarchs fought back to win, 18-25. In the third and final set, Hays came out storming, dominating the Monarchs, 25-9, for a win in the series.
In their final match of the day, Hays took on the Wamego Red Raiders. In the first set, Wamego came out on top, winning 25-23. The lady Indians showed resilience and fought back for a second set win of 25-22. In their last set of the tournament, the lady Indians showed out, winning 25-20 to make a record of 2-2 on the day.
After the tournament, Hays sat at a record of 10-11, playing Manhattan and Junction City in their next tournament on Sept. 27.
