On Thursday, April 21, the varsity baseball team faced difficult competition in Great Bend, losing 11-2 against the Panthers.

Great Bend’s pitcher Paco Hernandez solidified the win, pitching the best game he has ever pitched. Great Bend’s pitcher, along with their defense, shut down Hays High’s ability to score.

The following Saturday, April 23, the Indians faced another tough opponent, De Soto at Washburn Rural. The first game resulted in a 2-1 loss and the second in a 22-18 loss.

Senior Dylan Dreiling pitched for Hays High, striking out 11 with no walks in six innings. Dreiling only allowed the first inning double score during the game.

Hays High will play in the Butch Foster Memorial Baseball Classic hosted by Bonner Springs High School on April 28 and is also scheduled to play against Manhattan on May 3.
