Opening a week full of doubleheaders for the lady Indian softball team, they traveled to Garden City for two games, losing both with scores of 3-0 and 9-5.

The lady Indians were unable to find a rhythm within the first game, with only three singles. The singles came from freshman Riley Dreher, sophomore Dezarae Schmidt and junior Morgen Berry.

Dreher was in the circle for the Indians, allowing two walks and five strikeouts.

The second game started out better for the Indians, with the first run of the game being scored in their favor, but the Indians then fell behind, 5-1.

With a rally in the third, the Indians chipped away at the deficit, but it was the top of the fifth inning before the Indians tied the score at 5-5.

The Buffaloes responded in the bottom of the sixth, with four runs to push the score to 9-5, and the Indians were not able to recover.

Sophomore Aubree Thomas pitched the game for the Indians and allowed one earned run and 11 strikeouts.

The Indians then traveled the next day to Dodge City and spilt the doubleheader with one win, 9-5, and a loss, 10-9.

The first game was back and forth for the first five innings, with the score being 5-5 going into the top of the sixth inning, when the Indians pushed the lead to 9-5, which was the final score of the game.

Dreher pitched the game for the Indians and had five strikeouts and two walks. Senior Lainey Hardman had three hits, junior Morgen Berry also had three hits and two runs scored and Schmidt added two doubles of her own.

The Indians fell behind 4-0 in the first inning of the second game and never captured the lead again.

After two rallies in different innings, the Indians were not able to find enough runs to close out the game as a victory.

Zimmerman, Berry, Dreiling, Winter and Schmidt all added two hits.

Thomas pitched the game for the Indians and had six strikeouts and two walks.

The Indians are now 6-6 on the season and are 3-3 in the Western Athletic Conference. They will attend the TMP triangular on April 28.
