Hays High squad participates in its first cheer showcase

Hays High’s cheerleading team was invited by Fort Hays State University to participate in its cheerleading showcase on April 10 at Big Creek Crossing.

“From my understanding, it is just an opportunity for cheer and dance teams within our community to perform in front of each other,” cheer coach Mackenzie James said. “I do not believe there will be any awards or prizes presented at the showcase.”

FHSU, Hays High, Thomas More Prep-Marian (TMP), Styles Dance Centre and Storm Cheer all participated in the showcase.

Hays High took the varsity team to perform at the showcase.

“We wanted to give this year’s seniors one last chance to perform with their team,” James said.

James said this is the first showcase that has ever been done since she has been a coach at Hays High.
