The cross country team traveled to Hesston Sep. 7th to compete in a unique meet. Instead of only having varsity and JV races, the races go by grades. All freshmen girls compete against each other, freshmen boys, sophomore girls, sophomore boys and so on until the seniors finish.
The top 20 finishes are given medals. Freshman who medaled were Landri Dotts, 6th, Brayden Hines, 4th and Chris Isbell, 19th. Sophomores Claire Shippy finished in 7th, Cristina Leos, 9th and Allison Shubert, 16th. Junior Yesenia Maldonado came in at 9th and senior Johnny Fuller finished with a 14th place medal.
Head Coach Jerold Harris was proud with how the team competed on the cool day.
“Our saying on the back of our shirts this year comes from the founder of the Olympic Games, which means to always do your best, go to battle,” Harris said. “I felt our Indians went to battle and competed tough on Thursday.”
