Girls’ tennis team plays at Great Bend

The girls’ tennis team had a meet in Great Bend on Sept. 9. Teams there include Great Bend, Hays, Meade, Sterling, Dodge City and Larned.

Teams were split into two pools and each team played each team in their pool before getting moved onto a bracket.

The team secured third place with an overall score of 20 points.

The number one singles player was junior Brooke Forinash who went 2-2. She won two games 8-0 against Great Bend and Dodge City, but also lost two games 2-8 and 1-8 against Meade and Sterling.

Freshman Sarah Wyse played number two singles and had a 1-3 mark. Placing fourth, she lost two games 7-8 against Great Bend and 1-8 against Sterling, but she won against Meade with a score of 8-5.

The number one doubles team consisted of senior Emily McPherson and junior Fabi Pyschny. They went 2-2 and secured second place. Although they were unable to win against Great Bend, they secured two wins against Sterling and another school.

Junior Sylina Zhang and sophomore Sierra Brown played together for number two doubles and had a 1-2 mark. Coming in fifth place, they lost against Great Bend and Meade 4-8 but won 8-1 against Larned.
