Girls cross country places 1st at McPherson Invitational

The hot and windy conditions did not stop the girls cross country team from taking first place at the McPherson Invitational on Sept. 26.

Four Hays runners were medalists. Freshman Marie Reveles clocked in a time of 17:53 in the second place spot. Sophomore Haley George took fifth place with a time of 18:10, and junior Summer Smith took 11th at 18:35. The last medalist for Hays was freshman Alyssa Bryant in the 13th spot with a time of 19:03.

Other varsity times were Reagan Kaiser clocking in at 19:13 and junior Bailee Leiker with a time of 20:10.

The overall varsity team score was 42. In the eight team field, other team scores were Buhler,66; El Dorado, 74; Salina South, 75; McPherson, 93; Hutchinson, 148; Salina Central, 149.

On the junior varsity team, sophomore Lieacha Cook took first individually with a time of 20:58 and junior Lisa Quinn also medaled in at 10th place with a time of 22:16. The overall junior varsity team score was 33.

The next action for the lady Indians will be Oct. 5 at Junction City.
