The girls started off the season with a win in the first round of the Hays City Shootout against Colby.
In the first half of the game, seniors Katelyn Schumacher, Kaitlin Gulley, Janae Gagnon and Emily Braun put up 21 points all together. Schumacher made seven points total assisted by seniors Megan Bird and Taylor Herman in two of the shots. Schumacher also made one of her free throws after being fouled. Gulley made two three-pointers and Gagnon made six points. Braun made the other two points with assisted by Herman. The score at the end of the half was 21-14, Indians.
In the second half of the game, Herman made one shot and two free throws. Gagnon shot three two-pointers assisted by Bird and three free throws. Schumacher made three two-pointers assisted by Bird and three free throws as well. The score at the end of the game was 43-33, Indians.
The ladies will play tonight at 6:30 p.m. against Newton in Gym A.
