Apple products have always had a 3.5mm headphone jack. With the introduction of the iPhone 7, Apple plans to remove the headphone jack. They had many reasons for why they had this idea. The main reason is because it took up too much space, and they wanted to make the device thinner.

Some of the students here in the school feel that removing the headphone jack is a mistake.

“I don’t think they should remove the headphone jack,” sophomore Gage Delcamp said. “Make the device thicker, no one cares about a few stupid millimeters.”

Freshman Landon Crispin believes that the original headphone jack is still going to be used for a while.

“I think removing the audio jack on the iPhone is a terrible idea,” Crispin said. “3.5mm audio earbuds and headphones are going to be a thing at least for the next 10 to 20 years. What is my evidence for this? Well it might surprise you to know that 3.5mm ports have been around since the late 1850s. Change does not come instantly.”

Junior Mikhail Brown thinks removing the headphone jack is a good thing.

“I do believe that removing the audio jack is a good thing,” Brown said. “It means that Bluetooth head phones would be better and you are not worrying about a cord.”

Crispin feels that removing the headphone jack would affect the amount of sales.

“I do think that this will affect the sale of the iPhone,” Crispin said. “Let’s face it. Some people want the iPhone and spend most of their money on it. If people are going to be forced to buy a different type of headphones or earbuds for their music, I see a serious conflict.”

Brown doesn’t feel that it would affect the sales.

“It won’t affect the sales,” Brown said. “Apple has been selling iPhone’s for years they have the support from their customers.”

Freshman Isaiah Schindler also thinks it isn’t going to affect the sales.

“I don’t think it will affect the sales,” Schindler said. “The iPhone has sold 74 million units in the first quarter of 2016, and it still proves to be popular.”
