The girls cross country team finished second out of six-teams at McPherson on Sept. 25.

Hays finished with 56 points, only behind Buhler with 42 points. Maize and El Dorado took third and fourth with 81 and 89 points respectively. Finishing in the last two spots were McPherson with a score of 92 and Salina South with 139.

Individually, junior Haley George took fifth with a time of 17:36. Sophomore Alyssa Bryant and junior Courtney Green took seventh and eighth with times of 17:59 and 18:03. Junior Lacey Elkins had a time of 19:47 and took 31^st. Freshman Tana Herreman took 41^st with a time of 20:34.

In junior varsity action, Ashley Lang took third and was the lone medalist for the Indians with a time of 19:45.

Next meet for the cross country team will be Oct. 4 at Junction City.
