Student Council began organizing and decorating for the upcoming Indian Call dance.

Members have started decorating the Event Commons and the gyms to match this year’s theme, “An Escape to Old Hollywood.” During the group’s January meeting, students signed up for different committees, which will be led by the officers.

The first decorating lock-in happened on Thursday, Jan. 18, and the second lock-in will be after the basketball game on Friday, Jan. 27. These two meetings consist of planning, building and setting up the decorations.

“I think the first lock-in was productive, and we had lots of helpful students show up despite the cold weather,” senior vice president Sydney Meier said. “I’m excited for the rest of the spirit days and for the actual dance.”

This year’s Spirit Week is Jan. 22-27, starting off with Monday as Adam Sandler Day, Tuesday as Beach Vacay vs. Mountain Getaway Day, Wednesday as Dress as Your Favorite Holiday Day, Thursday as Dress as Your Favorite Celebrity Day and Friday as Dress Like a Teacher Day.

The day after the dance, there will be a clean-up meeting at 1 p.m. to take down all the decorations, pick up and sweep up trash and move items back to their spots.
