On March 22, Hays High School’s Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA) hosted its annual Spring Fling dance in the Hays High gyms.
The dance had a medieval theme, and attendees were encouraged to dress in a medieval style. An assortment of games and treats were provided for the students, along with music.
GSA members were responsible for organizing the dance, which consisted of coordinating a DJ, getting sound and light equipment, making posters and tickets and setting up dance decorations.
The dance provided students with an inclusive environment where they could express themselves without the fear of judgement.
“I think that the GSA dance gives people an opportunity to dress up in a way that may be considered unconventional and not be judged by their peers,” GSA member senior Tim Koehn said.
