At the start of the school year, many students were introduced the new online program Canvas. Several teachers have begun to use this program instead of Moodle.

With any new program, confusion and frustration can ensue. However, an overwhelmingly large amount of students view Canvas to be more helpful than Moodle.

Junior Megan Scott said Canvas has more convenient features to use.

“Canvas runs a lot smoother,” Scott said. “The calendar feature is my favorite. It’s really nice to be notified when things are due so you don’t have to worry about accidentally missing a deadline.”

Freshmen Laora Parnole and sophomore Dawson Rooney said they learned how to use Canvas quicker than Moodle.

“It’s nice that some of the grades are put into Powerschool automatically,” Parnole said. “Everything is organized and it’s easier to submit assignments. It also shows you if you haven’t turned something in.”

Rooney said he likes getting notified when assignments were graded.

“Everything on Canvas just feels more efficient,” Dawson said. “It’s a lot easier and smoother to submit assignments, and it’s nice to know exactly when everything needs to be turned in.”

Junior Cassandra Jackson said she likes that clubs are also included in Canvas.

“Moodle was mainly just core classes,” Jackson said. “But with Canvas I can get notifications for club meetings or activities. I hope the school sticks to using Canvas even though it’s taking some time for everyone to adjust.”
