Kansas Supreme Court Justice Dan Biles speaks to a group of students.

Justice Dan Biles of the Kansas Supreme Court held an informative question and answer session in the Lecture Hall on April 13 for interested juniors and seniors.  The Supreme Court is the general administrative authority of all Kansas courts.

The Justices presented at Fort Hays State University, Hays High School, Hays Middle School and Thomas More Prep-Marian High in the afternoon.

While at Hays High, Biles briefed the attending students on the proceedings that would occur later in the evening. The Supreme Court would be publicly hearing three cases. This event will take place at Beach Schmidt on the Fort Hays State University campus.

Each case is argued separately. All three are criminal cases where the defendants are bringing appeals. An allotted 15 minutes are granted to argue and answer questions from the court.

Several interesting questions were posed to Biles during his time, including interests in school finances and capital punishment issues.
