On April 18, Hays High School’s orchestra held its first-ever fundraiser dinner concert from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the school.
During the event, both Concert Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra played, with some members of the Chamber Orchestra playing in small ensembles. A dinner of spaghetti and meat sauce with sides was catered by the Rose Garden. Tickets for prizes were available for a raffle. A 50/50 raffle was also held, where however many tickets were purchased, was how much cash was in the pot. Whoever won got half of the earnings, with the rest going to the orchestra.
“I feel the dinner concert was pretty successful, especially since it was our first one,” senior violinist Evyn Cox said. “I am looking forward to the next concert, as we will be playing our most challenging piece yet, and we have the opportunity to perform with Hays Symphony members.”
