On Oct. 17, the Indians boys and girls cross country teams competed in the Western Athletic Conference meet at home in Hays.
The girls team placed fifth, with freshman Evelyn Schmidt leading the Indians in 19th with a time of 17:59.3, followed by freshman Madelyn Wilkins in 24th with a time of 18:26.9.
The boys team placed fourth, with senior Taevian Maupin coming in ninth with a time of 17:08.3, and after him was sophomore Logan Leiker in 20th with a time of 18:04.4.
The Indians head to regionals on Oct. 26 at Great Bend.
“The best way the team can improve is listening by to our bodies and not pushing ourselves to injury,” senior Ava Ruiz said.
