Continuing with their season, the Hays High School varsity girls golf team played at the Salina South Invitational at Salina Municipal Golf Course on Sept. 23.
Hays finished in fifth place overall with 386. Leading the Indians, senior Jaycee Oakley finished third overall with a 78. Junior Liz Cunningham and freshman Kinley Pfannenstiel tied for 26th, shooting 102. Senior Liz Dreiling and junior Ava Erbert tied for 33rd with 104. Junior Lily Butler tied for 37th, shooting 106.
The lady Indians then competed at the Buhler Varsity Invitational at the Hesston Golf Course on Sept. 27. Hays finished 11th overall with a 387. Oakley finished 13th with an 84, Erbert placed 38th with a 98, Dreiling placed 42nd with a 99, senior Elizabeth Noble placed 63rd with a 106, Cunningham placed 72nd with a 109 and Butler finished 80th with a 112.
Most recently, the team competed at the Hutchison Invitational at Carey Park Golf Course on Oct. 3. Hays placed 12th overall with a 397, and Oakley tied for 12th individually with 80. Dreiling placed 57th with a 102, Pfannenstiel placed 63rd with a 104 and Cunningham placed 81st with a 111. Erbert and Noble tied for 85th with 114.
“I think just staying positive and having fun has helped a lot this season,” Oakley said. “I have enjoyed playing golf with my team and having a fun time with them.”
