The Hays High lady Indian volleyball team is trying to make improvements to their game midway through the season.
On Sept. 14, the team won all three of their matches. They played Ulysses, Pratt and Garden City. This brought them to 8-8 for the season so far.
“I don’t think our record reflects our talent,” head coach Shannon Funk said. “We purposefully schedule a really hard schedule so that losing some games at the beginning of the season is expected because we play really good teams, and I think that makes you grow faster.”
The team’s defense is strong this year, and the team has some height that makes blocking a big part of the games, according to Funk. However, the team is still working more on their attacking shots and anticipating what the other teams are going to do.
On Sept. 21, there is a Hays Dual, and on Sept. 23, the team will go to a Wamego Invitational. On Sept. 26, the team will participate in a Manhattan Triangular, and on Sept. 28, there will be a Hays Quad.
