Each year, journalism teacher Jessica Augustine submits the school’s news and yearbook publications to be critiqued by the Kansas Scholastic Press Association (KSPA).
On Nov. 18, the Indian Call yearbook staff received their critique of the 2023-2024 yearbook, and they learned that they had earned the All-Kansas Award, which is the top award for Kansas high school publications.
The yearbook was critiqued in five areas, including the concept, coverage, reporting, photography and design, earning the top rating in each of the five categories. If a publication earns at least three out of five All-Kansas ratings, they also earn the All-Kansas Award for their overall evaluation.
“I think the award was a great accomplishment for us last year, and looking over the critique gave me helpful insight,” senior Indian Call Editor-in-Chief Maycie Holdeman said. “They liked how we carried our theme throughout the book, and I plan to use different/unique features in the book this year as well to carry the theme.”
