As the boys soccer season is underway for Hays High School, the varsity team has a current record of 3-3, and the junior varsity team has a current record of 2-1.

To open the season, the boys traveled to Garden City to play on Aug. 29. While it resulted in a 5-1 loss for the varsity boys, the JV team ended up winning, 4-2.

After this game, varsity traveled to play in the Titan Classic on Sept. 7, 9 and 12. In the first round, they lost a close game to Derby, 2-0. After this, they bounced back to win 1-0 against a good Maize team, with junior Cooper Johnson scoring the winning goal.

“My favorite part of the Titan Classic was the game against Maize because it was a really good game, and also our first win of the season,” Johnson said.

They carried on this winning streak to beat Hutchinson in the final round of the tournament, 2-0.

On Tuesday, Sept. 12, the team headed to Great Bend to take on the Panthers. Both the varsity and JV teams came home winners with the scores being 5-0 for varsity and 1-0 for JV.

Ending the week with their first home game on Sept. 14, the Indians played the Dodge City Demons. Hays varsity ended with a 10-0 loss, followed by JV with a 3-1 loss.
