As the annual Indian Call rolls around the corner, the Hays High Student Council has started planning for the events of the week. This year’s Spirit Week will be Monday, Feb. 6 through Friday, Feb. 10, and the dance will take place on Saturday, Feb. 11.

StuCo will have a lock-in on Thursday, Feb. 2 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. to decorate for the week. The theme of this year’s Indian Call is “A Night in Paris.”

Early in January, seniors voted for Indian Call candidates. Nominees for Indian Call king include seniors Keamonie Archie, Landen Clark, Evan Lind, Chase Summers and Wyatt Waddell, and the candidates for Indian Call queen are Katie Dinkel, Nia Kaiser, Carly Lang, Meg Taggart and Sarah Zimmerman.

The candidates have already done many activities since they were selected, including taking couples photos, recording their candidate videos and reading to elementary school children.

“My favorite part of being a candidate has been all the festivities my partner Evan and I get to do,” Kaiser said. “Everything we have done so far has all been so much fun.”

Indian Call king and queen will be announced on Friday, Feb. 10 at halftime of the boys basketball game at home.
