In Victoria, they overall placed second on Sept. 16. Jones placed first, and senior Hannah Crain placed second, both in singles. The double teams, Meyer with Miller and seniors Riley Dreher and Karley Schlautman, both placed second.
The next day, on Sept. 17, they traveled to Dodge City, where they placed fifth overall. Junior Ani McClure placed 14th in singles, and junior Melissa Boland placed 8th in singles. Meyers and Miller placed 11th in doubles, and junior Savannah Clingan and junior Mya Ploutz placed ninth in doubles.
Finally, in recent action, Hays High hosted a tournament on Sept. 21 and had two teams competing. The Gold Team placed first overall, with Holdeman placing third and McClure also placing third in singles. The Gold Team’s double teams placed first, with those teams being Meyers with Miller and Maier with Zimmerman. The Maroon Team placed third overall, with Jones placing fifth and Boland placing second in singles. Sander and Dixon placed second, and Crain and Schlautman placed fourth in doubles.
“I have been really pleased with both the varsity and JV competitions we have participated in so far this season,” Brown said. “The new players have really improved their skills and become more confident on the court. The returns are taking the skills they already have and taking them to the next level.”
