Boys basketball earns two important wins
The Hays High School boys basketball team faced Scott City on the road on Tuesday, Jan. 31. The Indians won the game, 51-38, with freshmen Dawson Ruder having a career high of 12 points. This win helped the Indians improve to a 7-6 record.
The boys then played Dodge City at home on Friday, Feb. 3, winning that game, 56-33. Sophomore Jack Weimer led the way with 22 points to move the Indians to an 8-6 record.
“I think we did a good job of adjusting to Dodge City’s defense as the game went on, and I also liked the energy level we maintained throughout the game,” junior Kyzer Fox said.
Their next game was Tuesday, Feb. 7 on the road in McPherson, where they faced the No. 3 team in Class 4A. McPherson maintained the lead throughout the majority of the game, winning 56-50.
The Indians will bring an 8-7 record into their next game against Liberal on Friday, Feb. 10 for Indian Call night.
