Girls golf starts strong at home tournament

The Hays High girls hosted their annual Hays High invitational tournament at Smoky Hill Country Club on Aug. 29, where they played 18 holes and par for the course was 69.

They had six players place in the Top 10. Sophomore Jaycee Oakley won the tournament with a score of 75, junior Abbie Norris placed third with an 81, senior Katie Dinkel took fourth with an 83, junior Lily Garrison shot an 84 for fifth, junior Evyn Cox scored an 85 for eighth and senior Claire Humphrey took ninth with an 89.

As a team, they won the tournament with a low score of 323; second place was Dodge City, which trailed by 67 strokes.
