Hays High competes at Larned track meet

Hays High started off this year’s first track meet at Larned High School strong, with the boys team finishing third in the meet and the girls team just missing the cut.

In the girls long jump, freshman Emily Labarge placed fourth and freshman Kailey Delimont placed sixth. In triple jump, Delimont placed fifth. In the shotput, freshman Kailyn Meyers placed sixth. In discus, Meyers placed fifth. In javelin, senior McKinley Wamser placed first.

In the boys shotput, freshman Jack Zeller placed first, sophomore Nate Henderson placed third, freshman Brady Huff placed fourth and freshman Slade Salamans placed sixth. In discus, Zeller placed first again, junior Matthew Berner placed second and sophomore Kelby Hammerschmidt placed fifth. In javelin, junior Wyatt Waddell placed first, freshman Wyatt Kirkpatrick placed fourth and freshman Dalton Meyers placed fifth.

In the girls 100-meter race, junior Ryleigh Martinez placed fifth. In the 200-meter race, Martinez also placed fifth.

In the boys 100-meter race, sophomore Evan Cosgriff placed third, junior Jay Patel placed fourth and sophomore Kyle Livesay placed fifth. In the men’s 4 x 100-meter relay, Hays High finished third. In the boys 400 meters, junior Evan Cosgriff placed third. In the boys 200-meter race, sophomore Kyle Livesay placed second, and junior Jay Patel placed sixth.
