Senior Gavin Meyers signs a letter of intent to play football for Kansas State University on Mar. 22 in the HHS cafeteria.

Senior Gavin Meyers signed his letter of intent to play football and attend school at Kansas State University in Manhattan on March 23 in the Hays High cafeteria with his family, friends, coaches and teammates.

He received his offer from K-State in December of 2019 and went on an official visit to Manhattan in July of 2021.

“I loved visiting K-State because it is really exciting to see how impressive their facilities were and what a great town Manhattan is,” Meyers said.

Meyers received several NCAA Division 1 athletic scholarship offers from schools, such as the University of Nebraska, University of Colorado Boulder, Air Force Academy and others.

“I believe K-State was the better fit for me, knowing the success they have had with improving players’ overall athletic ability,” Meyers said. “The distance was a helpful deciding factor as well; the feeling of being a lot closer than my other options helped.”

Meyers intends to play as a linebacker for K-State during their upcoming fall football season.

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to better my craft and pursue my lifelong dream of playing in the NFL,” Meyers said. “I am also happy to have the opportunity to play in front of my family and people I know out of high school.”
