The girls tennis team competes at WAC in Liberal
The girls varsity tennis team went to the WAC tournament in Liberal on Oct. 7. The other teams there were Liberal, Garden City, Dodge City and Great Bend.
Playing number one singles was sophomore Brooke Forinash. Brooke took 4th place with a 1-3 mark.
Senior Julie Balzer played number two singles and took 5th place. She played hard at the meet but was unable to secure a win.
Both of the doubles teams were able to place in the meet.
The number one doubles team of junior Emily McPherson and senior Kelsee DeBoer took 3rd place with a 2-2 mark.
The number two doubles team consisted of junior Ashley Cossaart and senior Abbey Rupke. They took 2nd place with a 3-1 mark. After undefeated all day they fought for first place with Garden City in the last game. They gave a good fight but were unable to win the last game.
“I was so happy and excited that we did so well today,” senior Abbey Rupke said. “I really wanted to get first but I am proud of getting second too.”
