The girls tennis team opened the season on Aug. 29 at Cimarron with a first-place finish out of a five-team field.

Tribune took second, followed by Ulysses, Cimarron and St. John.

Sophomore Brooke Forinash took second place in number one singles after posting a 3-1 mark.

The number one doubles team of seniors Molly Barnett and Kelsee DeBoer ended up in third place.

Senior Julie Balzer claimed first place in number two singles with a 4-0 mark while juniors Emily McPherson and Ashley Cossaart finished third.

The next action for the squad is Sept. 5 when the Indians host their own tournament. Action will take place at the high school courts and city courts.
