Parent/teacher conferences held in October

Recently, parents and guardians of Hays High School students had a great opportunity to attend Parent/Teacher Conferences. These conferences took place on either Thursday, Oct. 19 or Monday, Oct. 23. On these days, parents and guardians could show up to the school after school hours, from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on both days.

During the conferences, students’ parents or guardians were supposed to visit with the students’ PRIDE Time teachers first to get the students’ goal sheets, which they completed during a Mindset Monday before the conferences. On the sheets, students wrote their goals for the remainder of the semester, in addition to identifying their accomplishments from the first nine weeks. After visiting with PRIDE Time teachers, parents or guardians could visit their students’ other teachers if they chose to do so.

Conferences provide a good opportunity for parents and guardians to stay involved in their children’s education and help support their academic goals. The option for parents or guardians to see not only their students’ PRIDE Time teachers but also their other teachers allow them to be involved in all areas of their children’s education. These conferences help offer a chance to have open communication between teachers, students and parents.

“I believe conferences provide a great opportunity for staff and families to come together to work on behalf of our students,” principal Shawn Henderson said. “It is a continued focus for us to provide meaningful opportunities for stakeholders to converse about the great things happening at Hays High.”
