FFA holds auction to raise money for scholarships

On Sunday, Feb. 19, Hays High’s FFA club hosted an auction called the Scholarship Labor Auction. They raised about $18,300 for senior scholarships.

There were six members of the club participating in the auction, including seniors Wyatt Grabbe, Amelia Jaegar, Kenzie Hagerman, Karli Neher, Cyrus Vajnar and Jalynn Weilert.

The students will earn different amounts from the scholarship fund based on a point system. The point is based off of the student’s participation in FFA.

All of the members that signed up were auctioned off for eight hours of labor to buyers. The buyers will then have the students help them with whatever they need done.

“The auction gives us seniors many different opportunities to help people and for us to gain money for our scholarships,” Jaeger said. “It is very important to me to get a good amount of scholarship money, so the more people I can help, the more money goes towards our scholarship fund.”
