The Scholar Bowl team went 5-2 and took second at the Trego County meet on Oct. 29.

Six Scholar Bowl members took on seven other teams at the Trego County meet on Oct. 29 and finished with a silver medal.

Those six members included sophomores Alicia Feyerherm (captain), Skylar Zimmerman, Sophia Garrison and Anna Brull and freshmen Liahna Hyatt and Elena Herl.

“I feel like as we progressed through the meet we did better and gained a lot of momentum,” Feyerherm said. “I am pleased that we medaled, but there is always room for improvement.”

Brull was the top scorer for the team with 100 points while Zimmerman was not far behind with 95 points.

“I am proud of how the team did, and I am happy about how I personally did at the meet,” Zimmerman said. “I am hoping that I can keep performing this well all year. My goal is to be one of the top varsity members by the end of the year.”

The team suffered a loss the first round, but was able to come back and end with a 5-2 finish which was good enough to tie for second place with Ellis.

Hays received the second place medal since the team beat Ellis when they went up against each other. Hill City took first place with a 6-1 finish.

“Of course I would have liked to win first, but I was still very pleased with the team’s performance,” instructor Cheryl Shepherd-Adams said.
