13 questions with senior Albany Schaffer
Senior Albany Schaffer has been playing volleyball since she was in fourth grade, and has signed to continue playing it at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Schaffer looks forward to continuing her sports career and is excited to see what Louisiana has to offer.
1. How long have you been playing volley ball?
“I have been playing volleyball since 4th grade.”
2. What got you interested in volleyball?
“What got me interested in volleyball would have to be when I was a little girl seeing my neighbor Lexi play and she would teach me how to pass and I saw games going on at the rec and knew I wanted to play.”
3. What other sports do you participate in?
“I also participate in Softball.”
4. Are you going to continue playing other sports?
“I will finish out this softball season but then it will just specifically be volleyball.”
5. Did you ever imagine yourself playing volleyball for college?
“I have always wanted to play volleyball in college, it has been a dream since I was little. I imagined always getting better and seeing where the sport would lead me.”
6. What made you decide to sign to a college in Louisiana?
“I decided to go to college in Louisiana because the atmosphere at ULM was totally different than any other college I had gone to visit. Everyone was very friendly and it was a home away from home for me.”
7. Did consider any other colleges?
“I did consider many different other colleges. At the beginning of this school year I had no idea where I was going to attend college. I kind of got in a slump and the decision was really wearing on me. Then the opportunity at ULM came up and I went on my official visit and absolutely loved it.”
8. What are your thoughts towards playing volleyball there?
“I am very excited to play volleyball at ULM and excited to see how it goes.”
9. How does your family feel about you moving to a different state?
“My family is sad that I am growing up and will be moving, but they have always encouraged me to chase my dreams and they are really excited for me to start this new adventure in life.”
10. How do you feel about moving to a different state?
“I am excited to move to a different state to experience the world outside of Hays, Kansas, but I know it will all be a big change moving out of state, out on my own and going to college all in one time. I am excited for the new adventure.”
11. Do know anyone in Louisiana?
“The only people I know in Louisiana are some of the volleyball players, teachers, advisors, and my coach.”
12. When are you going to move to Louisiana?
“I will move to Louisiana in August.”
13. Do plan on playing volley ball after college?
“I don’t know how volleyball will be part of my life after college but if the opportunity arises to continue playing then that’s a whole different story, exciting story. I just plan on focusing on these next few years and seeing where the sport takes me.”
