Girls cross country takes third at Great Bend
Sophomore Marie Reveles took fifth place.
The girls cross country team finished third out of a seven-team field in its season opener at Great Bend on Sept. 4.
Hays finished with 84 points to finish behind Ellinwood with 55 and Liberal with 63. Salina South and Garden City ended up with 105 and 106 points, while Great Bend and Holcomb finished in the last two spots with 107 and 145 points, respectively.
Individually, sophomore Marie Reveles earned fifth medalist with a time of 17:16. Junior Haley George and senior Summer Smith also earned medals by placing 13th and 15th with times of 18:24 and 18:32. Sophomore Alyssa Bryant was 18th with a time of 18:49, while junior Courtney Green ended up in 40th with a time of 21:03.
In junior varsity action, freshman Madison Schmidt took eighth and medaled with a time of 20:41.
Next action for the cross country team will be Sept. 11 at Hesston.
