Three goals in the first 20 minutes of the game proved to be the demise of the boys soccer team as it fell 4-1 to McPherson in the championship game of the McPherson Tournament.
The boys picked up the play for the rest of the first half after the team was already down 3-0.
To start the second half the Indians got a couple of chances which the team wasn’t able to capitalize on.
With 13 minutes to go the team allowed another goal by the bullpups to make the score 4-0.
Junior Shawn Herrman put a goal in and took away the McPherson clean sheet with two minutes to go in the game. It was the first goal scored against McPherson all season.
Hays had four players named to the McPherson All-Tournament team in Herrman, juniors Lane Clark and Jordan Windholz as well as senior Kellen Griffin.
The next game for the Indians is Monday, Sept. 10, against Great Bend.
