Boys soccer defeats TMP

A four-goal second half led the Indians to a 4-0 victory over Thomas More Prep-Marian in the semis of the McPherson Tournament.

Mid-way through the first half junior Lane Clark hit a laser off the crossbar, off the ground and then off the back of the TMP goalkeeper and over the goal.

With 20 seconds left in the first half senior Josue Lopez played a through ball to senior Kellen Griffin who hit drilled the crossbar when he was one-on-one with the keeper taking the game into half time tied at zero.

Right at the beginning of the second half junior Shawn Herrman scored on a pass from junior Jordan Windholz.

The next goal came off of a free kick when sophomore Kyler Leiker played a short pass, on a free kick, to Griffin who drilled the shot upper ninety from thirty yards out.

Clark had the next goal when Windholz took the ball down the sideline, cut back and played a ball back to the top of the box for Clark to finish.

Windholz had the final goal when Griffin played a one-two with junior Aaron Kreutzer, then dribbled inside the box and Griffin played the ball back across to Windholz who finished the scoring.

Hays is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 8, at 2 p.m. in the finals of the McPherson Tournament for the fourth consecutive year. The team will play the winner of the Salina South and McPherson game.
