Every year, students in the music programs at Hays High School audition for and participate in the Kansas Music Educators Association’s (KMEA) Northwest District mini-convention concert.
On Saturday, Dec. 7, each of the groups gathered to work with clinicians on their pieces for roughly five hours before a performance at 3:30 p.m.
The High School Honor Choir, directed by Troy Robertson, performed five pieces:

“It was my first time auditioning for something like that, so being first chair on both snare and mallets was exciting,” Wahlmeier said. “I enjoyed the chance to play with many other talented people.”
