On Oct. 16, the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) met in the Lecture Hall for a professional presentation.
Club president, senior Kolynn Denning, invited the head of sonography at Hays Medical Center, Joyce Peckham, to speak to the HOSA students.
Peckham talked about what her job entailed beyond just common imaging of pregnancies. Her responsibilities include scanning everything except for the skull. She even pulled up images of different scans she has seen, including a pair of conjoined twins.
“I really liked how Joyce talked about conjoined twins,” senior HOSA member Karley Schlautman said. “It was very interesting to see medical anomalies.”
Two weeks later, HOSA met again in the Lecture Hall for their monthly meeting. This meeting was to discuss the blood drive on Tuesday, Nov. 12. There were options for people to sign up to help run the blood drive. Students were able to help check people in or assist with giving out snacks.
