Administration hopes to establish new in-house “transition program”
In the upcoming months, Hays High will be adding an in-house “Transition Program” to maximize independent living skills for students with disabilities. Having this program inside our school will allow for regular access, efficient use of staff, and a safe environment for staff and students.
The goal is to furnish the area of school that was recently vacated by PATHS as an actual apartment to use in teaching independent living skills to students.
This program will help students with disabilities learn how to utilize skills needed when living in a home.
Items needed to furnish and start this program are the following:
Clothes washer | Table cloth |
Clothes dryer | Place mats |
Living room furniture | Dish towels/cloths |
Dining room chairs | Broom & dust pan |
Dishes | Vacuum cleaner & dust mop |
Bed frame | Wall clock |
Mattress | Smoke detector |
Sheets, blankets, bed spread Pillows | Step ladder |
Dresser | Pots and pans |
